Metro Inc. and 10,000 Ontario workers at A&P, Ultra Food & Drug, and Dominion have reached a three-year agreement that includes improvements for health benefits and wage increases.

The grocery store operator will improve the vision care plan and make additional contributions to the employees’ dental, pension, and health and welfare plans.

Metro will also pay workers an additional 50 cents per hour over the life of the contract.

Full-time workers who elect early retirement after age 55 will continue to receive vision, medical, and drug benefits for themselves and their dependents to age 65.

As well, they are provided with a job guarantee for the life of the collective agreement.

The company also committed to maintaining its four-day, 36-hour work week for full-time workers who elect this option.
