A brief flurry of movement at two of Canada’s large investment managers unfolded over the past 24 hours. Russell Investments announced late on Tuesday that it had appointed Greg Nott as chief investment officer (CIO), effective immediately.
As the new CIO at Russell, Nott will be responsible for all aspects of investment management, including leading the fixed income and equity investment teams. Nott joined Russell in 1998 as senior research analyst and was named portfolio manager in 2003.
“Greg has been with Russell Investments for 13 years in ever-expanding roles, and was crucial in building the fixed investment team and bringing the Russell investment process to many consecutive years of strong performance,” said David Feather, president and CEO of Russell Investments. “We are excited to be offering investors such time-tested investment leadership.”
Nott replaces Sadiq Adatia, who was departing for “another organization.” That mystery was short-lived, however, as Sun Life Global Investments (SLGI) announced this morning that Adatia would join the company as CIO, effective July 18, 2011.
“Sadiq is well respected in the investment community and has an established industry profile, making him an excellent choice as our new chief investment officer,” said Rick Headrick, president, SLGI (Canada) Inc. “With Sadiq’s appointment, our new executive team is now complete. We will continue to bring Canadian investors the best in asset management and innovative solutions from around the world.”
In his new role at SLGI, Adatia will be responsible for all internally managed funds and will provide investment commentary to advisors, the market and the media.
