OMERS buys British consulting firm

OMERS Private Equity (OPE) has signed a definitive agreement to acquire consulting firm Environmental Resources Management (ERM) from Charterhouse Capital Partners for US$1.7 billion.

Alberta Investment Management Corporation (AIMCo) and 600 partners in ERM, including senior management, will co-invest in the transaction.

“I am delighted we have agreed to acquire ERM alongside management and AIMCo,” says Mark Redman, OPE senior managing director and head of Europe. “This is our sixth investment since launching OPE’s European operation in 2009 and brings our capital deployed in Europe on behalf of our members to over CAD$2 billion.

ERM is a global provider of environmental, health, safety, risk, social consulting and sustainability related services. The company has more than 4,800 employees including 600 partners and operates from 163 offices in 42 countries.
