The option for employees to work remotely is becoming more common, with just three per cent of global office workers reporting they’ve never worked from home, according to a survey by LogMeIn Inc.
The survey, which polled 3,000 global office workers, found 42 per cent of respondents said their life would be negatively affected if they were no longer able to work remotely. That figure increased to 51 per cent among respondents aged 35 to 44.

More than a third (40 per cent) of respondents aged 24-44 said caring for family and pets are the top benefits of remote working. And 24 per cent of respondents said remote working influenced life decisions such as starting a family, moving or adopting a pet.
Almost 40 per cent said they appreciate the money they save on commuting from remote working, while almost 30 per cent said they’d take a lower paying job if it allowed them to work remotely. Looking ahead, 41 per cent of respondents said the ability to work remotely is very important to the future of business, while 43 per cent said it’s changed the technology they use every day.
