Pacific Blue Cross appoints new CIO

Pacific Blue Cross has appointed Barry Rivelis to senior vice-president and chief information officer (CIO) effective May 4, 2015.

He has more than 15 years of experience in executive leadership and more than 10 years of experience in the healthcare IT sector, in both public and private industries.

Rivelis is leaving his role as CIO of the Provincial Health Services Authority in British Columbia.

He has also worked for TELUS Corp., which he joined in 2004 as vice-president, public sector, West, and became vice-president, healthcare, in 2005.

Before joining TELUS, Rivelis was a vice-president of Cap Gemini Ernst & Young in Vancouver and a partner with Ernst & Young Consulting in Toronto.
