People Watch: On the move in April

Accompass has two new employees. Tiina Liivet has been appointed as vice-president, benefits and health. She was most recently a principal at a large consulting firm. And Dimitri Poliak has joined as a consultant in the investment and retirement practice. He was previously with NFP Canada where he was a consultant in the group and retirement practice.

There are two additions to Aon Hewitt’s Vancouver office. Jason Billard has re-joined as managing partner, Pacific region. And Jason Harding has returned to the Vancouver office as vice-president and local practice leader of the health and benefits team.

Addenda Capital has appointed Roger J. Beauchemin as president and CEO. He joined Addenda as chief operating officer and chief financial officer in 2013 before being appointed president and chief operating officer in 2014.

David Bergeron has joined Cushman & Wakefield as managing director of the Toronto West office. He was most recently the senior director, asset management for GWL Realty Advisors.

Andrew Cook has joined ENCON Group as vice-president, technical underwriting in the company’s group and retiree benefits division. He has more than 30 years in the benefits industry. Most recently, Cook was the director of client management at Manulife Financial.

Leo de Bever has been appointed as an advisor to Norway’s Government Pension Fund Global. He retired as CEO of Alberta Investment Management Corporation (AIMCo) earlier this year.

Darryl Ingham has joined GroupHEALTH Benefit Solutions as president. He has previously worked at London Life, Inplex, PPI Financial Group and SSQ.

Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan has appointed Ken Manget as vice-president, relationship investing, public equities. He joined Teachers’ in 2014 and was most recently vice-president, infrastructure.

Ian McSweeney (pictured above), a partner in Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP’s pensions and benefits group, plans to retire at the end of June. He has been with the firm since articling in 1979 and became a partner in 1987.

Invesco Canada has appointed Rob Mikalachki as chief investment officer. He’ll continue to act as lead portfolio manager for Trimark Global Small Companies Class and Trimark U.S. Small Companies Class.

Heather Nairn has joined Mercer’s Toronto office as chief marketing officer for Canada. She has than 25 years of marketing experience and has worked for Pitney Bowes, ADP Canada and American Express.

The Global Risk Institute in Financial Services has named Richard Nesbitt as its new president and CEO. He was chief operating officer of CIBC until he retired from that position in September 2014.

Douglas Nowers has joined the board of directors at Northern Trust Canada. He has more than 25 years of experience in the financial services industry.

Ivanhoé Cambridge, the Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec’s real estate subsidiary, has appointed Nathalie Palladitcheff as executive vice-president and chief financial officer.

Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPPIB) has appointed Patrice Walch-Watson as its senior managing director and general counsel and corporate secretary, and a member of the senior management team, effective June 5, 2015.

Pacific Blue Cross has appointed Heidi Worthington to the position of senior vice-president and chief marketing officer. Her experience includes more than 14 years of global brand marketing leadership.
