People Watch: On the move in August

Here’s a review of people on the move in August.

Greg Bambury has joined Medavie as vice-president, HR. He has more than 25 years of experience as a leader in HR, driving major strategic initiatives within numerous organizations throughout Canada, including Towers Watson and Irving Oil.

Don Bisch is now director of group marketing at Equitable Life of Canada. He joined the firm as director of corporate communications in January 2010. Bisch previously spent almost 10 years at Rogers Publishing.

Jean Boivin will take on the role of deputy chief investment strategist of BlackRock Investment Institute (BII) on Sept. 15. He joins the firm from the Ministry of Finance, where he held the role of associate deputy finance minister and G20, G7 and Financial Stability Board deputy for Canada for the last two years. Prior to his most recent position, Boivin was the deputy governor of the Bank of Canada.

RBC Global Asset Management (RBC GAM) has appointed Clive Brown as CEO and managing director of RBC GAM International. Brown has more than 30 years’ experience in the financial services industry, including 21 years at JP Morgan Asset Management.

Pat Chiefalo has joined the BlackRock Canada team as managing director, head of product of iShares Canada. He was formerly the director of exchange-traded fund research and strategy for National Bank Financial.

David McKee has joined BNY Mellon Asset Management Canada as a relationship manager. He was previously a vice-president, consultant for BNY Mellon Asset Servicing in its global risk solutions group. Previously, he was associate director, relationship management, at CIBC Mellon.

The Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec has appointed Édouard Merette as managing director, Asia-Pacific. Before joining the Caisse, Merette was CEO, Asia-Pacific, with Aon Hewitt. He also worked for Mercer for more than 20 years as a member of its global management committee and oversaw operations in Europe, Asia and Canada.

Standard Life has appointed Eric Nauss as associate vice-president, product development, group insurance. He has more than 10 years of experience as a health and benefits senior consultant, most recently at Towers Watson.

Reg Swamy (above) has joined OPTrust as senior vice-president, actuarial services, plan policy and HR. He has more than 25 years of experience in pension administration, wealth management, HR and strategic leadership, most recently with TD Wealth Management.

Manulife Asset Management has announced the expansion of its asset allocation investment capability with the appointment of Peter Warnes as international head of its portfolio solutions group. He was previously with JP Morgan Asset Management.

Westcourt Capital Corp. has two new employees. Ron Lloyd is the company’s executive vice-president. He has more than 30 years’ experience at the senior executive level, including more than 10 years as president of Hewitt Associates (now Aon Hewitt), as well as Gluskin Sheff and most recently, Romspen Investment Corp. And Dario Di Napoli is director, asset management and client services, at Westcourt. He previously worked at Invesco.
