People Watch: On the move in March

Here’s a review of the people on the move this month.

Jay Aizanman (left) has joined Desjardins Global Asset Management as director, business development, asset management. Previously, he was senior vice-president, retail distribution, with Standard Life Investments, where he worked for 13 years.

Steve Carlson is now the head of Towers Watson’s Americas investment business. He has more than 25 years of experience providing investment consulting and investment management services.

Jean-Daniel Côté has rejoined Mercer as a partner in its DC consulting team. He brings more than 25 years of wide-ranging experience in the retirement, investment and employee communication fields.

Renée Couture has joined Buck Consultants as national practice leader, retirement consulting. Most recently, she was vice-president at the National Hockey League Pension Society.

OMERS has appointed Patrick Crowley as executive vice-president and chief operating officer. He previously served as executive vice-president and chief financial officer.

Sun Life Financial has appointed Jennifer Elia as assistant vice-president, health and wellness, market development. She was previously the company’s director strategic initiatives, client solutions.

Ryan Geerts has been voted onto the board of directors of the Toronto chapter of the International Society of Certified Employee Benefit Specialists. He has worked in the benefits and pension consulting industry for five years. He’s currently manager, business development, with Clients’ Edge Employee Benefits.

Jack Inglis has taken over as CEO of the Alternative Investment Management Association. He previously worked at Barclays, where he was a member of the global executive committee for prime services.

Thomas Kloet, CEO of TMX Group Ltd., will retire from the company effective Aug. 31, 2014. Under his leadership, TMX Group has also been active in mergers and acquisitions, with Kloet’s initial focus in 2008 being the integration of Montreal Exchange into TMX Group Inc.

Aon Hewitt Canada has appointed James Koo as a partner in the retirement consulting practice. Most recently, he served as vice-president and chief risk officer for Canada and employee pensions at Sun Life Financial.

Descia Milinkovich has joined Northern Trust Canada as senior vice-president, institutional sales. She previously spent 20 years as a sales leader at State Street Corp., Sun Life Financial and Canada Trust.

Domenic Monopoli has joined HealthSource Plus as director of consulting services. He’s had an extensive career within the employee benefits industry, having worked for 19 years as a senior account executive with RBC Insurance/Unum.

CIBC’s chief operating officer, Richard Nesbitt, has announced his intention to retire effective October 2015. He joined the bank in 2008 from TSX Group where he was CEO.

Medavie Blue Cross has appointed Anthony Perlman as vice-president, Ontario. He has more than 25 years of experience in both the insurance and consulting fields.

Fidelity Investments has appointed Nancy D. Prior as president of the company’s fixed income division and vice-chair of Pyramis Global Advisors. She most recently served as president of money markets and short duration bonds.

Institutional investor data and analytics firm eVestment has hired Guri Saggu to serve as vice-president. He previously served as vice-president of index sales and relationship management with MSCI.

Samantha Seabrook has joined Hicks Morley as an associate in its Toronto office. She previously practised in the labour and employment law group at Heenan Blaikie.

Lloyd Sebastian has joined Northern Trust Canada’s risk management group as senior vice-president and chief risk officer. He previously worked within the sales and distribution and network management groups at RBC Investor & Treasury Services.

Kent Thexton has joined OMERS Ventures, the venture capital investment arm of the OMERS pension plan, as managing director. He has spent almost 25 years in both founder and operational management positions at a number of global companies.

David Wolf has joined the Fidelity Canadian Asset Allocation portfolio management team. He joined Fidelity Investments in September 2013.

Canada’s Venture Capital and Private Equity Association (CVCA) has appointed Mike Woollatt as its first CEO. Prior to joining he co-founded Beaconsfield Group, a management consulting and public affairs firm.

Peter Wright has joined Pavilion Advisory Group’s Canadian team as director, business development. Before joining Pavilion, he worked as an associate partner with Aon Hewitt.
