Integrated Asset Management Corp. (IAM) has launched a new global alternative investment manager, River Plate House Capital Management Inc.

River Plate will offer long- and short-term investment strategies focused on real interest rates, as well as customized solutions for managing liability and risk.

Michael Hyman is the company founder, president, CEO and chief investment officer, while Julian C. Smith serves as executive vice-president, chief operating officer and majority partner in IAM.

River Plate will be located in Toronto and has been registered with the Ontario Securities Commission as an investment fund manager, portfolio manager and exempt market dealer.

“We are in a generation where rising ‘real’ interest rates will be at the forefront of investors’ minds,” Hyman said.

“With the support of IAM, River Plate House is poised to take advantage of opportunities in the global government fixed income markets that have not been available for a long time.”

The timing of the launch is also significant, as pension funds are starting to focus on real rates of return and liability driven investment strategies.
