Teachers', SPC selling consumer products company

The Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan, along with partner Swander Pace Capital (SPC), has reached an agreement to sell Insight Pharmaceuticals to Prestige Brands Holdings for US$750 million ($828 million).

Insight is an over-the-counter (OTC) products company that has a portfolio of nearly 30 brands, with a strong presence in women’s health and personal care products. The company owns brands such as Anacin and Sucrets.

Prestige Brands is the largest independent provider of OTC products in North America.

Teachers’ initial investment in Insight was made in 2011 through Teachers’ Private Capital (TPC).

“Working with SPC and Insight management, we are pleased to have supported the company’s growth strategy,” says Jane Rowe, senior vice-president of TPC.
