The Co-operators Group Ltd. is partnering with WorldCare Health Inc. on a mental-health, medical second-opinion product for the insurer’s group benefits clients.
The product combines an existing critical-illness, medical second-opinion review with access to hundreds of sub-specialized psychiatrists and 60 specialty clinical and research programs that address a wide range of psychiatric disorders.
In using the product, plan members will receive quick, thorough and individual evaluations, which are paired with the resources and guidance they need to make medical and mental-health decisions, noted a press release. The evaluations are completed by Worldcare’s second-opinion providers.

The product roll out comes after the partners completed the second phase of a research program with a strong satisfaction rating from participants.
“The research program provided impressive results that reinforce the value of [medical second opinions] and we are excited to offer it more broadly as part of our growing suite of mental-health resources,” said Conor Quinn, vice-president of group benefits insurance at the Co-operators. “We truly believe that this innovative solution could make a big difference in the wellness journey of those Canadians who are struggling, helping them feel heard and getting them the support they need.”
