William Moriarity will become the new president and CEO of the University of Toronto Asset Management Corporation (UTAM) next month.

He joins UTAM from Royal Bank and RBC Capital Markets where he was recently vice chair and head of the global research division. Moriarty also served on the board of RBC Asset Management Inc., and on the investment strategy committee of the bank’s pension fund.

“We are delighted that Bill has decided to join UTAM,” says UTAM’s board chair, Ira Gluskin. “His background and skills are ideally matched to the challenge of managing UTAM and the large and sophisticated portfolio we oversee.”

“I am delighted to have the opportunity to work with the team of skilled investment professionals at UTAM,” says Moriarty. “Their investment philosophy and approach to markets is well suited to the challenging capital markets environment that we face today.”

UTAM is a wholly owned, separately incorporated investment management subsidiary responsible for managing the investment of the University of the Toronto’s pension funds, endowment funds and other funds.
