Manulife Investment Management Holdings (Canada) Inc. is appointing Christoph Schumacher as its first global head of real assets for private markets.
In the new role, Schumacher will be responsible for defining the investment managers’ private real assets strategy. He’ll also be responsible for managing investment solutions for clients around the world.

According to a press release, the new position will unite the firm’s real asset capabilities across real estate, infrastructure, timber and agriculture. Heads of each real asset team will report directly to Schumacher.
Prior to joining Manulife, Schumacher served as a managing director and global head of real estate Credit Suisse Asset Management. He also held positions with the German Ministry of Finance and Linklaters.
