The Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan is appointing Tim Deacon (pictured) to succeed David McGraw as the plan’s new chief financial officer, effective April 19.
He joins the Ontario Teachers’ after serving as group controller and global chief accounting officer at Manulife Financial Corp. Prior to that, Deacon was CFO of Manulife’s global wealth and asset management businesses and held other senior-executive roles across finance, risk, strategy and operations. He’s also served as a director at PricewaterhouseCoopers in the global capital markets group based in Toronto and London.

In his role at the Ontario Teachers’, Deacon will lead the plan’s global finance organization and will be responsible for a number of areas including financial and management reporting, taxation, valuation, risk analytics and model valuation, financial operations, due diligence and strategic finance initiatives.
McGraw will retire as CFO in June after a successful 16-year career at the organization, according to a press release, which noted he will work with Deacon to ensure a smooth transition.
