Private markets investment firm HarbourVest Partners has opened an office in Toronto.
HarbourVest manages US$1.5 billion on behalf of Canadian institutional investors.
The firm’s track record of investing in Canada goes back to 1989, with more than US$425 million of indirect investments into over 200 Canadian companies through primary fund investments and secondary investments and investments of US$40 million in Canadian growth equity transactions.
HarbourVest plans to increase its focus on Canada and its sourcing of primary fund investments, secondary deals and direct co-investment opportunities across the market.
The firm’s presence in Canada will be led by Senia Rapisarda, who has joined the firm as a principal.
