The British Columbia Investment Management Corp. is appointing Jennifer Coulson as its first global head of environmental, social and governance.
In the new position, she’ll oversee all of the investment organization’s ESG strategies and programs at the total portfolio level. She’ll also be tasked with improving the BCI’s approach and leading its work supporting the global goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.
“Appointing a global head of ESG allows us to expand our ability to manage risks and capture opportunities,” said Gordon J. Fyfe, chief executive officer and chief investment officer of the BCI, in a press release.

Coulson joined the BCI as its manager of stakeholder engagement in 2012. In 2015, she became senior manager of ESG integration and, in 2018, its vice-president of ESG. Earlier in her career, she was manager of corporate engagement at NEI Investments.
In other news, the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan is appointing Jeppe Gregersen as its global head of private credit and Europe, the Middle East and Africa head of credit.
Previously, he was senior portfolio manager of European credit at the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board. Earlier in his career, he was the vice-president of European mezzanine investments at the GSC Group Ltd.
