The Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec is appointing Nicholas Rubbo as managing director of Espace CDPQ, its venture capital hub.
In the new role, Rubbo will work to expand Espace CDPQ, which aims to attract partners interested in making joint investments in Quebec companies. To date, it has secured capital investments of $8.6 billion in 690 companies operating within the province.

According to a press release, Rubbo will begin mobilizing the network’s expertise and resources in order to attract more investors to opportunities in Quebec. “Its strong network and numerous partners are tremendous drivers that we will use to promote the role of Espace CDPQ.”
Previously, Rubbo was the vice-president of development and strategic partnerships for La Ruche, a non-profit financing platform that’s raised $16 billion for investments in new projects in Quebec. Earlier in his career, he was the senior national director of clients and markets and strategic planning at McCarthy Tétrault LLP.
