Morningstar Inc. is appointing Tom Kuh as its first global head of environmental, social and governance strategy.
In the newly created role, Kuh will be responsible for advancing the Chicago-based financial services firm’s strategy to accelerate growth while harnessing its broad ESG strengths. He’ll report to Rolf Agather, head of research and product.

Most recently, Kuh was president of Benchmark ESG Consulting. Earlier in his career, he was managing director of indexes at KLD Research and Analytics Inc., head of indexes at the RiskMetrics Group and the head of ESG indexes at MSCI Inc.
In a press release, Kuh said investors are looking for clarity from market research firms on ESG-related issues. “We’re at a critical point in sustainable investing where investors are deluged with information and seeking credible, transparent insights and tools.”
