The Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan is appointing Sharon Chilcott as its inaugural chief of staff.
Chilcott, who now serves as a managing director and associate general counsel, will take up the newly created executive position position on Sept. 1. In the role, she’ll report to the Ontario Teachers’ president and chief executive officer and will be responsible for leading the daily operations and administration of the chief executives’ office.

Chilcott first joined the Ontario Teachers’ in 2014 as its manager of employment law and labour relations. In 2017, she was promoted to serve as a managing director and associate general counsel, employment law and litigation. In that role, she was responsible for overseeing all employment, commercial contracts and litigation matters. She was also named as a corporate secretary in 2019.
In a press release, Jo Taylor, president and chief executive officer of the Ontario Teachers’, said Taylor would be a welcome addition to the organization’s leadership team. “I’m confident that Sharon’s creative, pragmatic and decisive perspective will help drive our business forward, achieve our ambitious investment outcomes and ultimately shape a better future.”
