Sun Life Financial Inc. is appointing Jacques Goulet as executive chair and Jessica Tan as president of Sun Life Canada, effective Sept. 30.
In his new role, Goulet will support a smooth leadership transition and help deliver on key elements of the company’s enterprise strategy. He’ll also continue as the chair of the board of directors for Dialogue, Sun Life’s virtual health-care business, and in his leadership role as chair of the board for the Canadian Life and Health Insurance Association.

As president, Tan brings extensive global experience in insurance and digital innovation to her new role, according to a press release. Most recently, she was co-chief executive officer of one of Asia’s largest insurers and prior to that, she was a partner at McKinsey & Co. where she worked in 13 countries.
“Jacques has built a culture at Sun Life that fosters creativity and challenges the team to go even further while leveraging an owner’s mindset,” said Kevin Strain, president and CEO at Sun Life, in the release. “His leadership has resulted in Sun Life delivering positive and sustainable impact in Canadians’ lives. I look forward to working with him closely in his new role.
