The University Pension Plan is appointing Karen Rowe as its chief financial officer.
In the new role, she’ll oversee the teams responsible for the UPP’s corporate finance, investment finance and operations functions. Rowe will also collaborate with the UPP’s leadership team and board to provide strategic leadership, advice and counsel on operational processes and business decisions.
Before joining the UPP, Rowe was the chief financial officer at CIBC Mellon. Earlier in her career, she was the managing director and head of investment finance at the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board.
“Karen’s experienced leadership in the financial sector and her deep expertise in driving business innovation and transformation make her an incredible asset to our team,” said Barbara Zvan, president and chief executive officer at the UPP, in a press release. “She has a track record of charting operational excellence and will play a pivotal role in leading the design, build and implementation of cross-organizational initiatives as UPP continues to grow.”
