David Brown, the former head of the Ontario Securities Commission, will lead an independent investigation into fraud allegations relating to the RCMP pension and insurance plans.

He will be supported by any experts deemed necessary to fulfill his mandate and a final report is to be submitted to Stockwell Day, the minister of public safety, and the president of the treasury board by mid-June.

Brown will report on the factual findings of his investigation and provide a recommendation as to whether or not a more judicial inquiry is necessary.

He is currently a lawyer with Davies Ward Phillips & Vineberg LLP and joined the firm after seven years as chairman and chief executive of the OSC.
