The province announced it would reivew its legislation in November.
Bill Black, former president and CEO of Maritime Life will chair the committee.
Ron Pink, an experienced labour lawyer, and Dick Crawford, former CEO of Maritime Life and former president of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries, will also be part of the committee.
“Pensions are an important issue for Nova Scotians and this review will help identify any problems that may exist in our current legislation,” says Mark Parent, Nova Scotia’s environment and labour minister. “We want our legislation to be modern, efficient and beneficial to all employees and employers in Nova Scotia.”
The committee will be supported by staff at the Department of Environment and Labour and other pension experts, if required.
It is expected to make recommendations to government in late fall.
