How a Silicon Valley entrepreneur encouraged workplace gender equality

Dave Goldberg, famous Silicon Valley entrepreneur and CEO of Survey Monkey, strove to empower both his female employees and his famous wife, Sheryl Sandberg, the Chief Operations Officer of Facebook, The New York Times reports.

Goldberg, who died suddenly on Friday at the age of 47, always encouraged the women around him to speak up on various issues and negotiate confidently. For example, he advised his wife, who is also author of Lean In, to negotiate a higher salary before starting her Facebook job because he wanted Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg to “feel he stretched to get Sheryl.”
